Remittances for Medical Treatment, Studies
and Travelling Abroad
Medical Treatment Abroad:

Foreign exchange up to US$ 50,000 or equivalent in other currencies for medical treatment of resident Pakistanis can be remitted. Remittances will be sent directly to the account of concerned foreign hospital via SWIFT, telegraphic transfer or demand draft. Cash foreign exchange up to US$ 5,000 each to the patient and one attendant can be obtained. For details, please visit the branch authorized for dealing in foreign exchange.




  • Mandatory Documents

    • Foreign Currency Funds Transfer Application (FFTA) form.
    • Form-M (Mandatory where remittance to be carried out from local currency account).
    • BAHL Cheque instrument.
    • Revised Appendix V-72 duly filled in by the patient / next of kin / sponsor.
    • Invoice / estimate of the foreign hospital.
    • A ‘self-declaration’ from the patient, his/her next of kin or from sponsor declaring amount of foreign exchange essentially required for treatment abroad.
    • Copy of VISA (not required for VISA Free Countries/VISA on arrival).

  • Eligibility Criteria and Limits

    • Customer must have account maintained with BAHL.
    • Patient opting Medical Treatment must be a Pakistani Resident.
    • Remittance Transaction is up to USD$ 50,000 or equivalent on account of medical treatment per annum.
    • Foreign Exchange release as cash is up to USD$ 5,000 each to the patient and one attendant – which should be duly endorsed on his/her/their passport(s). Endorsement stamp shall be affixed and signed by BAHL’s attorney holder of authorized branch for FE Services.
    • Remittance shall be sent to the account of concerned reputable foreign hospital upon completion of above mentioned requirements.

    Studies Abroad:

    Foreign exchange up to US$ 70,000 or equivalent in other foreign currencies per student per calendar year for application/processing charges, tuition fee, living expenses etc. can be remitted. For details, please visit the branch authorized for dealing in foreign exchange.

  • Mandatory Documents - Remittance of Application/Processing Fee for Admissions in Foreign Educational Institution


    • Foreign Currency Funds Transfer Application (FFTA) form.
    • Form-M (Mandatory where remittance to be carried out from local currency account).
    • BAHL Cheque instrument.
    • Copy of completed admission form for Foreign Education Institute / University.
    • Admission Fee Schedule of Foreign University.
    • Copy of VISA (not required for VISA Free Countries/VISA on arrival).


  • Mandatory Documents - Remittances Related to Tuition Fee, Living Expenses etc


    • Foreign Currency Funds Transfer Application (FFTA) form.
    • Form-M (Mandatory where remittance to be carried out from local currency account)
    • BAHL Cheque instrument.
    • Revised Appendix V-82 duly filled in by the student/ parent/guardian.
    • Copies of Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)/SNIC/Form ‘B’ of the student.
    • Copies of CNIC/SNIC of Parents/Guardians, in case of Form ‘B’ provided for student.
    • Copy of passport of the student.
    • Letter of admission from foreign educational institution.
    • Letter/Cost Sheet from foreign educational institution showing break-up of expenses.
    • Copy of VISA (not required for VISA Free Countries/VISA on arrival).


  • Eligibility Criteria and Limits

    • Customer must have account maintained with BAHL.
    • There is no restriction on the number of institutions to which a student can apply for admission.
    • Remittance Transaction is up to USD$ 70,000 or equivalent per student per calendar year on account of application/processing charges, tuition fee, living expenses etc.
    • Foreign Exchange release as cash is up to USD$ 5,000 each to the student for them to meet initial expenses related to boarding/lodging and/or other requirements – which should be duly endorsed on his/her passport. Endorsement stamp shall be affixed and signed by BAHL’s attorney holder of authorized branch for FE Services.
    • Upon completion of documentary requirements, dues including tuition fee will be remitted directly to the account of the educational institute. However, living expenses can be remitted to the student directly.


  • Travel Abroad:

    Bank AL Habib Limited also releases foreign exchange to persons travelling abroad for various purposes. The amount of foreign exchange released in these cases depends upon the purpose of visit and the limit assigned by the State Bank of Pakistan. Persons traveling abroad may visit the nearest branch of BAHL dealing in foreign exchange to obtain their foreign exchange requirements after completing all formalities asked by the dealing officer.

    • Passport (both original and copy)
    • Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)/SNIC (both original and copy).
    • Travel Ticket (both original and copy)
    • Form T-1 duly filled and signed
    • Visa is mandatory in case of travel by land route


  • Mandatory Documents - Travel Abroad Bangladesh Only


    • Foreign Currency Funds Transfer Application (FFTA) form
    • BAHL Cheque instrument
    • Passport (both original and copy)
    • Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC)/SNIC (both original and copy).
    • Form T-1 duly filled and signed.
    • Air/Steamer ticket (both original and copy)


  • Eligibility Criteria

    • Customer must have account maintained with BAHL.
    • Sale of Foreign Exchange to Pakistan nationals resident in Pakistan for travel abroad.


  • Quota Limits – Travel Abroad Except Bangladesh & Afghanistan

    • Pakistan nationals resident in Pakistan are entitled to private travel exchange quota (PTEQ) of U.S. $50/- per day per person subject to a maximum of US$2,100 per calendar year.
    • This quota may be drawn in lump sum or in installments over a period of one calendar year.
    • Children below the age of 2 years are entitled to 10% of the PTEQ.
    • While children over 2 years of age but below 12 years of age are entitled to draw 50% of PTEQ.
    • Private Travel Exchange Quota can also be released against one way ticket.


  • Quota Limits - Travel Abroad Bangladesh Only

    • Pakistan nationals resident in Pakistan are entitled to private travel exchange quota (PTEQ) of US$100/- per head on each visit to Bangladesh subject to the condition that children up to the age of 12 years will be given US$50/- per head.
