3D Secure is the latest technology aimed at improving online security through authentication of each transaction by the cardholder so that you use your card with more confidence and peace of mind. With this service, when you use your Bank AL Habib Debit or Credit Card on websites that display "MasterCard SecureCode” and “Visa Secure” sign respectively, you will receive a One-Time-Password (OTP) through SMS and email as you complete your transaction.

- What is 3D Secure Method?
3D Secure service provides an additional security layer while using your Bank AL Habib Master Credit / VISA and PayPak Debit Cards for internet-based transactions. It protects from unauthorized access. You will be required to provide a One-Time-Password (OTP) that is sent to your mobile number and email address (if available) registered with the bank, when you make any transactions on 3D Secure enabled websites.
- How can I identify which merchant is 3D Secure enabled?
3D Secure merchants are powered by "MasterCard Secure code" / "Verified by VISA". Also, the 3D Secure merchants will prompt the OTP Screen for the processing of transaction.
- What do we mean by OTP (One-Time-Password)?
One-Time-Password (OTP) is a 6-digit online verification code sent to your mobile number and email address (if available) registered with the bank in order to process an internet-based 3D transaction.
- Are there any charges associated with e-commerce (3D Secure) transactions?
There are no charges for the e-commerce transactions. However, international e-commerce transactions may be charged as per the prevailing schedule of charges.
- How can I activate the e-commerce on my card?

- How long is the OTP valid for?
A dynamic OTP will be valid for 10 minutes only from the time it is generated, after which the transaction needs to be re-initiated.
- Will I receive the OTP for all the internet based transactions?
You will only receive an OTP on your registered mobile number / email address (if available) for internet-based transactions on 3D Secure enabled websites. For non – 3D Secure enabled websites, you will not go through the OTP authentication process.
- How many attempts are allowed to input OTP for a single transaction?
You have three attempts to enter the correct OTP. After three incorrect attempts, your transaction will be declined.
- What happens if I insert incorrect OTP?
The transaction will not be processed and maximum three attempts to enter the correct OTP will be allowed, afterwards, the OTP screen will be closed and the transaction would be declined.
- What should I do if I receive the OTP for the transaction not performed by me?

- If my mobile phone is on roaming while I am abroad, will I receive an OTP for internet-based transactions?
Yes, you will receive an OTP via SMS and E-mail. However, you may incur roaming charges (if any) from your mobile service provider.
- Can I provide a temporary phone number to receive my OTP if my Bank AL Habib registered phone number is not available?
An OTP via SMS will only be sent to your registered mobile number and registered e-mail address. To update your mobile number and email address, please visit your Bank AL Habib relationship branch.
- Which browser do I need to use for 3D Secure?
The following browsers are all compatible with the 3D Secure service: Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Opera and Mozilla Firefox. Please ensure that you have enabled the pop-up windows in your browser in order to complete your payment with 3D Secure authentication.
- How will I know if the website is safe to use?
Look for secure transaction symbols when shopping online to ensure your account information is protected. These include a lock symbol usually found on the right or left side of your browser’s address bar and a web address that begins with “https”. Always sign-out website after you make a purchase. If you cannot sign-out, close the browser window and clear your browser’s cache and history to prevent unauthorized access to your account information.
- What should I do if I suspect that information on my card is compromised or has been used to make fraudulent purchases?

- Will I be notified once the financial transaction is completed?
Yes, you will be notified on your registered phone number via SMS and Email ID, once the financial transaction is completed.
- Will my Supplementary Cardholder receive an OTP on his/her mobile number & email address?
The supplementary Credit Cardholder can perform the e-commerce transactions; however, its OTP will be shared on the Basic Cardholder’s registered mobile number and email address.
For Visa Supplementary Debit Cardholder, OTP will only be sent to the Cardholder on his/her mobile number and email address registered with the bank in order to perform 3D Secure e-commerce transaction.
